RESPONSIBLE OPERATIONS
We have a robust environmental management system designed to ensure we
maintain the highest standards. All employees are trained in how to spot and
report environmental incidents on our internal reporting system. Thanks to the
systems we have in place we recorded zero major environmental incidents in 2024.
Our products and services play an important role in protecting and enhancing
the biodiversity value of aquatic environments. Our Environmental Management
System (EMS) helps ensure we remain compliant with all relevant ecological
legislation both on our customer sites and our own. We’re particularly proud of the
contribution to nature positivity we have been able to make on our Monmouth site,
where we have installed swift boxes and maintain a thriving lagoon in partnership
with the Gwent Wildlife Trust.
Water handling is our business. We understand the importance of this precious
resource for our customers but also in respect of our own sites. We monitor water
consumption at our branches on a monthly basis and have installed rainwater
harvesting at three sites to assist with sustainable water management.
Our pumps are regularly tested using on-site water tanks and ponds. All wastewater
is processed in line with stringent environmental legislation and and hold discharge
consents from our regulators. Our EMS ensures we follow a strict maintenance
regime for test ponds which are regularly cleaned by specialist contactors.
As we look to the future we’ll be investing in our properties with new super centres
and a new UK head office, designed BREEAM excellent standards.
