SOCIAL VALUE
We believe that nurturing diverse talent, investing in skills, and promoting
equitable employment practices not only creates social value, but also
strengthens our long-term competitive advantage.
Local recruitment remains central to our approach. The majority of our employees
live within 20 miles of their nearest branch. Some live within walking distance –
so we know the importance of community engagement and supporting our local
economies across the globe.
In 2024, we expanded our trainee programme and tripled the number of
apprenticeships we support. Both provide pathways into careers in engineering,
operations, and environmental services.
Our early careers strategy is a vital talent pipeline and supports the development
of future skills across our industry. We hosted or attended a series of STEM careerfocused events with local schools to attract talent and raise awareness about career
opportunities within the business.
We actively support routes into our industry through Apprentice Open Days, Jobs
and Internship fairs and by working with ex-military personnel. By working closely
with community groups and non-profit organisations, we help drive positive
change, support workforce development, and promote diversity and inclusion
within our industry.
