This cloud-first approach underpins our ability
to maintain market-leading security standards,
while scaling protection as the business grows.
Integrating the business through a single
digital platform
Previously, systems were distributed across
multiple data centres, often with bespoke
configurations and local dependencies.
Migrating to the cloud has enabled us to
bring the organisation together onto a
unified digital platform, improving
collaboration, reliability and efficiency.
But the migration is more than a technical
achievement. It establishes a sustainable
digital foundation that supports our ESG
ambitions and reduces the environmental
impact associated with traditional data
centre operations.
By migrating circa 100 servers and systems into
shared cloud infrastructure, we have:
• Decommissioned three UK data centres,
removing the need for power-hungry on-site
computing, cooling and backup systems
• Reduced electricity consumption, by moving
from dedicated, under-utilised servers to
highly efficient, shared cloud platforms
• Lowered associated Scope 2 greenhouse
gas emissions, as cloud providers operate at
significantly higher energy efficiency than onpremise environments and increasingly
use renewable energy sources
• The removal of duplicated physical systems
represents a material and sustained
reduction in IT-related energy usage,
supporting our wider GHG reduction
objectives
