Going the Extra Mile - Hinkley Point C
Hinkley Point C, the landmark nuclear power
station being built in the UK by EDF Energy, is one
of the most significant infrastructure projects the
UK has ever seen. Once complete, it will generate
low-carbon electricity for around six million homes,
playing a crucial role in reducing emissions and
securing the country’s energy future.
A project of this scale comes with unique
challenges. We setup a dedicated team of solutions
experts some of whom lived on site for 18 months
to ensure we were always on hand to support our
customer, Turnbull.
Our integrated Workdry Group team combines
capabilities from both Selwood and Siltbuster and
includes engineers, electricians and technical

support staff, working under a strict 24-hour callout procedure with a guaranteed response time of
four hours.
This hands-on support has helped our customer,
Turnbull, overcome some major hurdles – including
keeping the reactor intake tunnels dry to ensure
work could continue on schedule and without any
environmental incidents.
Turnbull is using or has access to more than
100 Selwood pumps, including around 30 diesel
units, multiple S150 electric models, and a full
range of submersibles for dewatering and foul
water management. On top of that, more than
70km of pipework has been supplied, along with
additional pump sales, Siltbuster treatment units
and ongoing engineering support.
