Emissions Inventory
Group Emissions Breakdown 2025
Scope 1 - 6158.6
Scope 2 - 706.52
Scope 3 - 177,154.23
Total emissions increased in line with The Group’s
growth we experienced in 2025. The table helps
us dig into emissions across our different business
units. Its highlights significant improvements
in certain categories as well as the anticipated
increase across the scopes.
Intensity ratios help us better understand the
impact of our decarbonisation efforts on our
performance for the year.
Tonnes of CO2 per £1k Turnover remains in line
with our 2024 performance year:
• 0.02 (2024 - 0.02)
Tonnes of CO2 per employee rose slightly
compared to 2024:
• 6.40 (2024 - 5.75).
The largest Group element within the UK reduced
from 6.07 in 2024 to 5.27 in 2025.
We’re encouraged by this positive step in the UK,
where our Net Zero Maturity is highest.
However the increased proportion which is non-UK
has resulted in an overall increase for The Group,
as disclosed.
The Group’s direct energy consumption (Scope
1 & 2) arises predominantly from the diesel and
petrol used in our vehicle fleet, the natural gas
consumption in our facilities and our purchased
electricity.
Thanks to our proactive approach to
decarbonisation, Scope 1 & 2 emissions remain
well below industry averages. Approximately
96% of our carbon footprint lies downstream in
the value chain (Scope 3). Of this approximately
45% sits in Category 13 – use of leased assets.
Addressing these emissions is key to advancing the
decarbonisation ambitions of The Group and our
customers.
The Group’s emissions are expected to grow
over time, driven by the emissions impact of our
customers running pumps that are leased or
bought, and the expected growth in customer
numbers over time.
Understanding this projected growth is critical for
us. It forms the baseline against which emission
targets must be set and defines the level of
ambition required from decarbonisation levers.
It highlights the need to implement a robust Net
Zero Routemap for the business to ensure we can
continue to grow to meet customer needs but not
at the expense of our decarbonisation ambitions.
To align with a science-based trajectory, we will
need to decouple emissions from business growth,
cutting emissions as the business expands.
